South American U19 Men's Championship set to begin in Colombia

 

Argentina and Brazil will be among the favourites

Sopo, Colombia, September 21, 2018 - The city of Sopo in Colombia will play host to the 21st edition of the South American U19 Men's Championship as of Monday, featuring eight teams. Argentina were champions in Peru in 2016. They join Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Venezuela in the 2018 edition of the competition.

Split into two groups of four teams, the top two from each will meet in the semifinals of the tournament, with the final to be played on September 29. Group A includes hosts Colombia, Bolivia, Chile and Ecuador, while Group B consists of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Venezuela.

Brazil have won the continental title on 16 occasions, but Argentina claimed the two most recent titles in 2016 and 2014. Argentina debut against Paraguay while Brazil take on Venezuela. Bolivia and Chile star in the opening game.
